‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the land,
There were bowl games a-plenty: too many to count on one hand;
When the bids were announced, some just didn’t seem fair,
But everyone knew the Crimson Tide would be there.
The committee chose Oklahoma over Ohio State’s Bucks,
Seems their loss to Purdue made the voters say “yuck;”
In the SEC title game with so much at stake,
Dawg fans didn’t think it Smart of Kirby to fake.
Michigan hired Harbaugh to take them to Pasadena and the Rose,
But it’s off to the Peach where the Maize and Blue goes;
Central Florida was perfect so a playoff spot they’d expect,
But the Knights play in a conference that gets no respect;
Clemson is in, the fourth year in a row,
Seems all the talk’s about Saban but what about Dabo?
No Pac-12 team made the playoff, and just one a New Year’s Six,
That league is irrelevant – many problems to fix.
Now Fiesta! Now Orange! Now Sugar and Cotton!
This makes two years in a row that the Big Ten is not in;
Nebraska hired Scott Frost to restore the Big Red,
But it looks like the Huskers continue to play dead.
On New Year’s Eve morn, the Ducks take on Sparty,
Six big games on the day and then a huge party!
We opened with forty-one bowl games and twenty-six remain,
How one is named the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla is hard to explain.
The Gators, the Irish, the Utes and the ‘Horns,
Our favorite season’s nearly over but there’s no time to mourn;
So many bowl games from Citrus to Sun,
The season’s outrageous – fans have never had so much fun.
College football is thrilling – mascots, traditions, and bands,
Come January 7 we’ll find out who’s best in the land;
May your team perform well, may the score turn out right,
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
